Introduction

Mr Maximillian Mifsud is a Consultant Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon and expert witness at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he is Clinical Lead for Paediatric Orthopaedics. His clinical practice is focused on the assessment and treatment of infants, children and adolescents with a wide range of complex musculoskeletal conditions. He manages both acute traumatic injuries and complex elective disorders, undertaking procedures including corrective osteotomies, tendon transfers, complex joint reconstruction and open and arthroscopic knee surgery. Alongside his NHS practice, Mr Mifsud also holds consultant and visiting consultant appointments in the independent sector and internationally. He has held senior clinical leadership responsibilities, including his current position as Clinical Lead for Paediatric Orthopaedics and a previous role as Governance Lead, and has led projects focused on digital innovation, patient safety, service redesign and local and regional integrated care pathways. His active involvement in research, teaching, national and international professional organisations, and multidisciplinary leadership further strengthens his authority as a specialist in paediatric orthopaedic surgery.
