Mr Max Mifsud
Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon
Hip Dysplasia is a condition in which the hip socket does not adequately cover the femoral head, potentially causing joint instability, pain and abnormal wear. It may be identified during infancy or present later in childhood or adulthood with hip discomfort, reduced mobility or early osteoarthritis. Assessment involves clinical examination and imaging, with treatment ranging from monitoring and physiotherapy to corrective surgery. Independent Hip Dysplasia Expert Witnesses can provide specialist opinions on delayed diagnosis, screening, treatment decisions, surgical complications, causation, long-term joint damage and standards of care in Clinical Negligence cases.
