Video-Urodynamic Studies (VUD) combine bladder pressure and flow measurements with imaging to assess how the bladder and urethra function during filling and emptying. They are used to investigate urinary incontinence, voiding difficulties, neurogenic bladder dysfunction and suspected urinary tract obstruction. Testing requires appropriate patient selection, accurate interpretation and consideration of potential complications, including urinary tract infection. Independent Video-Urodynamic Studies Expert Witnesses can provide specialist opinions on investigation decisions, test performance, interpretation of findings, delayed diagnosis, subsequent management, causation and standards of care in Clinical Negligence cases.
