Large for Gestational Age (LGA) describes a baby whose estimated fetal weight or birth weight exceeds the 90th centile for gestational age. It may be associated with maternal diabetes and increased risks of birth complications, including shoulder dystocia. Assessment considers ultrasound findings, maternal risk factors and delivery planning. Independent expert witnesses can provide opinions on antenatal assessment, counselling, monitoring, delivery decisions, clinical standards and causation in Clinical Negligence proceedings.
