Fetal Macrosomia describes a baby with a higher than expected birth weight, often associated with maternal diabetes or other pregnancy factors. It can increase the risk of shoulder dystocia, birth injury and complications during delivery. Assessment considers ultrasound estimates, maternal risk factors and individualised birth planning. Independent expert witnesses can provide opinions on antenatal assessment, counselling, delivery decisions, clinical standards and causation in Clinical Negligence proceedings.
