A Fetal Anatomy Scan is a detailed ultrasound examination, usually performed around 18 to 21 weeks of pregnancy, to assess fetal development and identify possible structural abnormalities. The scan examines major organs, limbs, the placenta and amniotic fluid, with further investigations arranged when indicated. Independent expert witnesses can provide opinions on screening standards, image interpretation, missed abnormalities, referrals, counselling and causation in Clinical Negligence proceedings.
