Fetal Abnormalities (Fetal Defects) are structural or developmental differences identified during pregnancy, sometimes associated with genetic or chromosomal conditions. Assessment may involve detailed ultrasound, fetal echocardiography and diagnostic testing to inform counselling, monitoring, pregnancy management and planning specialist care after birth. Independent expert witnesses can provide opinions on prenatal screening, interpretation of findings, referral decisions, counselling, treatment options and causation in Clinical Negligence proceedings involving delayed or missed diagnosis.
