Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies are diagnostic tests used to assess electrical activity in muscles and the function of peripheral nerves. They help investigate conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, nerve injuries, radiculopathy and neuromuscular disorders. Testing involves measuring nerve responses and, where appropriate, inserting fine needle electrodes into muscles. Independent EMG and Nerve Conduction Studies Expert Witnesses can provide specialist opinions on test selection, procedural technique, interpretation of findings, missed diagnoses, nerve damage, causation and prognosis in Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury cases.
