Introduction

Dr Yehuda Marshall is an expert witness and Consultant Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Manchester, and also works with Woodlands Care Ltd in Wrexham, providing psychological consultation and support for therapeutic placements for young men who display harmful sexual behaviour. He specialises in complex psychological assessment across adults, children and adolescents, with particular expertise in trauma, attachment difficulties, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning difficulties, cognitive and psychometric assessment, anxiety, depression, PTSD and the psychological impact of abuse.

Dr Marshall’s clinical practice involves detailed assessment of emotional, behavioural, developmental and cognitive functioning, using structured observation, psychometric testing, neuropsychological assessment, play-based approaches and CBT-informed methods. He works with individuals whose presentations are often complex and shaped by family, educational, social care and trauma-related factors.

His experience includes supporting children and young people from emotionally and socially deprived backgrounds, including looked-after, fostered and adopted children. He also provides consultation and training to families, carers and professionals supporting individuals with ADHD, autism and learning disabilities, with a strong emphasis on systemic formulation and practical psychological guidance.

Medico Legal Experience Summary

Dr Yehuda Marshall has been undertaking medico-legal work since 2011 and accepts instructions in clinical negligence and personal injury matters. His medico-legal practice is focused on claimant instructions involving psychological assessment across adults, children and adolescents.

He provides expert opinion on breach of duty, causation, condition and prognosis, particularly where psychological, developmental, cognitive or trauma-related issues are relevant to the claim. His expertise is suited to cases involving the psychological consequences of injury, clinical events, abuse, chronic stress, PTSD, anxiety, depression, attachment difficulties and secondary trauma. He is also able to address matters involving autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning difficulties, cognitive functioning and psychometric assessment.

Dr Marshall’s reports assist solicitors in understanding the nature, severity and likely cause of psychological symptoms, the impact on functioning, and the claimant’s prognosis and treatment needs.

Clinical Interests

Dr Marshall’s clinical interests focus on the assessment and psychological management of individuals with complex emotional, behavioural, developmental and trauma-related presentations. Much of his work involves understanding how early adversity, abuse, attachment disruption, chronic stress and secondary trauma affect psychological functioning, behaviour, relationships and day-to-day coping.

He has a particular interest in structured psychological and cognitive assessment, including the evaluation of mood, memory, attention, intellectual functioning and academic achievement. These assessments are used to clarify an individual’s profile of strengths and difficulties and to guide practical recommendations for families, schools, carers and professionals.

His clinical practice also includes work with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD and learning difficulties, particularly where neurodevelopmental needs overlap with emotional distress, behavioural risk or complex family and care environments. Alongside assessment, he uses therapeutic approaches including CBT-informed work, EMDR and interventions for chronic trauma, with a focus on formulation, emotional regulation and improving functioning across home, school and care settings.

Research, Teaching & Publications Summary

Dr Marshall has contributed to published peer-reviewed work in clinical psychology, including research on attachment style and the supervisory working alliance in clinical psychology training. His wider professional background includes consultation, training and psychologically informed education for professionals working with children and young people with complex needs.
