Introduction

Dr Loizos Siakallis is a Consultant Neuroradiologist and expert witness at Ayios Therissos Diagnostic Centre, Nicosia, Cyprus, where he has served as Lead in Neuroradiology since 2018. His principal areas of clinical expertise include all aspects of adult neuroradiology, with particular interests in brain and spinal cord imaging, cerebrovascular disease, neuroinflammatory and demyelinating disorders, neuro-oncology, brain tumours and advanced MRI techniques, including perfusion imaging.

Alongside his leadership role in Cyprus, Dr Siakallis practises as a Neuroradiologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and through a UK telemedicine service, providing specialist interpretation of complex neurological imaging. His clinical practice centres on the diagnosis and assessment of disorders affecting the brain, spine and central nervous system, using advanced CT and MRI techniques to investigate a broad spectrum of neurological conditions, from cerebrovascular disease and trauma to inflammatory disorders and intracranial neoplasms.

Dr Siakallis has completed dedicated subspecialty training in neuroradiology and combines extensive clinical experience with an active academic profile, contributing to research in neuroimaging, artificial intelligence and advanced MRI applications. His leadership responsibilities and specialist expertise in complex neuroradiological imaging make him a highly regarded authority in the assessment and diagnosis of adult neurological disease.

Medico Legal Experience Summary

Dr Loizos Siakallis has undertaken medico-legal practice since 2022, following completion of formal expert witness training with Inspire Medi Law. He accepts instructions in clinical negligence claims relating to adult neuroradiology, providing independent expert opinion across the full spectrum of neuroradiological imaging. His work includes screening and advisory reports, breach of duty, causation and condition and prognosis reports, together with combined breach and causation opinions where appropriate.

Drawing upon his specialist expertise in adult neuroradiology, Dr Siakallis is instructed in cases involving complex brain and spinal imaging, cerebrovascular disease, neuroinflammatory disorders, trauma, neuro-oncology and other neurological conditions requiring specialist radiological interpretation. His medico-legal opinions focus on the analysis and interpretation of CT and MRI imaging, assisting solicitors in understanding imaging findings, evaluating standards of care and determining causation and prognosis in clinical negligence claims.

Clinical Interests

Dr Siakallis' clinical practice is centred on the specialist interpretation of complex neurological imaging in adults, with a particular focus on disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord and central nervous system. He spends the majority of his clinical time analysing advanced CT and MRI studies to investigate cerebrovascular disease, neuroinflammatory and demyelinating disorders, traumatic brain and spinal injuries, and a wide range of intracranial and spinal tumours. His expertise extends to the assessment of both primary and secondary brain neoplasms, where advanced imaging techniques, including perfusion MRI, support diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing disease evaluation.

A significant aspect of his practice involves providing detailed neuroradiological assessment for patients with complex neurological conditions, helping to distinguish subtle imaging abnormalities and guide clinical decision-making. He also has extensive experience in the investigation of spinal pathology and the imaging of inflammatory, vascular and neoplastic diseases of the central nervous system. His specialist interest in advanced neuroimaging techniques enables him to provide comprehensive radiological evaluation in challenging and highly specialised cases, supporting multidisciplinary teams in the diagnosis and management of complex neurological disease.
