Introduction

Dr Deepak Goyal is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and expert witness at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. His principal areas of clinical expertise include interventional cardiology, coronary artery disease, coronary angiography, hypertension, heart failure, hyperlipidaemia and complex cardiovascular risk assessment.

His current clinical practice is centred on the diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients with a broad range of cardiovascular conditions, with particular expertise in coronary artery disease and invasive coronary intervention. He has extensive experience performing percutaneous coronary interventions and is proficient in both radial and femoral access techniques. His practice encompasses the use of advanced interventional technologies, including intravascular ultrasound, pressure wire assessment, aspiration thrombectomy, laser thrombectomy, rotational atherectomy and distal embolic protection devices, enabling the management of complex coronary disease. He also provides comprehensive assessment and treatment for patients with angina, cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and those requiring perioperative cardiac assessment.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Goyal serves as Clinical Lead for Cardiac Rehabilitation, supporting the delivery of high-quality cardiovascular care and the implementation of recognised clinical standards. His combination of advanced interventional expertise, broad general cardiology practice and leadership in cardiac rehabilitation enables him to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care across the full spectrum of adult cardiovascular disease.

Medico Legal Experience Summary

Dr Deepak Goyal has undertaken medico-legal practice since 2025, accepting instructions in both Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury claims. He prepares independent expert reports covering Screening / Advisory, Breach of Duty, Causation and Condition & Prognosis, providing clear and balanced opinions on a wide range of cardiovascular issues. His medico-legal practice draws upon his expertise in interventional and general cardiology, particularly in cases involving coronary artery disease, coronary angiography, angioplasty, heart failure, hypertension and cardiovascular risk assessment.

He is frequently instructed to provide opinion on the diagnosis and management of cardiac conditions, the appropriateness of investigations and treatment, causation, prognosis and the interpretation of clinical evidence. His extensive experience in complex coronary intervention and advanced interventional techniques enables him to provide well-reasoned, evidence-based opinions that assist solicitors in understanding complex cardiology issues and resolving disputes involving cardiovascular care.

Clinical Interests

Dr Goyal's clinical practice is focused on the assessment and management of patients with coronary artery disease and other complex cardiovascular conditions requiring invasive investigation and treatment. He spends much of his time evaluating patients with angina, heart attacks, heart failure, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and cardiac arrhythmias, using specialist diagnostic techniques to guide clinical decision-making and optimise long-term cardiovascular outcomes.

A significant part of his practice involves performing coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention for patients with both routine and complex coronary artery disease. He has particular expertise in advanced interventional techniques, including the use of intravascular ultrasound, pressure wire assessment, aspiration thrombectomy, laser thrombectomy, rotational atherectomy and distal embolic protection devices, enabling him to manage challenging coronary anatomy and high-risk procedures with precision.

In addition to interventional practice, Dr Goyal undertakes comprehensive cardiovascular risk assessment, echocardiographic evaluation and perioperative cardiac assessment, supporting the diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients across a broad spectrum of cardiac disease. His role as Clinical Lead for Cardiac Rehabilitation further complements his clinical practice by promoting evidence-based secondary prevention and long-term cardiovascular care for patients following cardiac events and interventions.
